shells...

Come visit me at the Riverside Arts Market in Jacksonville, Fla., every Saturday.

The shell art pieces I design are unique and one of a kind. All items are handcrafted one by one. Shells are applied layer by layer and left to dry for two - three days in between layers. Through much research, trial and error, I have several glues I use to attach the shells depending on how porous the shells are and the weight and placement of the shells. I do not ever use a glue gun for any shell art pieces as the glue will release the shells in a few months' time and the piece will ultimately fall apart.

The shells I use are self collected, bought and gifted to me. I cover and encrust frames, mirrors, boxes, candlesticks, sconces and other items. I recently received 1st and 2nd place ribbons at the juried 2010 Jacksonville Shell Show artist competition.

I love to collect and create art with seashells. A beautiful piece of art is created when all the right elements come together. It all starts when I glue the first shell.
